Gas Cooker Installers recently received a call from Mr Thompson in SW11 Battersea who stated that he had a gas cooker emergency. He told us that the gas cooker fitted in his property had begun to produce orange flames instead of blue. This can often mean that Carbon Monoxide is present and should not be ignored. Gas Cooker Installers advised him to open all the windows and sent one of our gas engineers out to him immediately. Once our gas cooker engineer had arrived at the property in SW11 Battersea and carried out the appropriate checks, he was able to reassure the customer that there was no Carbon Monoxide present but that the gas cooker needed a gas cooker servicing. Mr Thompson has told our engineer that the last time he had his gas cooker service was 3 years ago. Our engineer then completed the gas cooker servicing for him and Mr Thompson’s mind was put at rest.

Gas cooker, oven or hob servicing should be completed at least once a year to ensure the appliance is still safe to use and no problems have occurred. It is also now advised for every home to at least have 1 Carbon Monoxide alarm installed to ensure there are no unexpected incidents.
